About Zoe
Nice to meet you!
Zoe Spangler (She/They) is a lighting designer based in Kansas City, Missouri. Specializing in live performance, she has experience bringing theatre, circus, dance, opera, corporate annual expo, and concert to life.
​
In May 2022, she earned her MFA in Lighting and Projection Design and Technology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory.
In 2025, Spangler now teaches lighting design at Johnson County Community College in addition to a variety of unique freelance projects and employment through IATSE Local 31.
​
Always looking for kind accomplices who experiment with the live production formula, Zoe can mesh with the weird and the wonderful. Love, whimsy, equity, and community define her central collaborator values, bringing the power of laughter and positive energy to everything she does.
​
Zoe seeks exciting new design possibilities in the Midwest USA for fall 2025 and beyond. She prioritizes projects with a strong drive toward social commentary, community awareness, abstraction of contemporary life, and challenging preconceived notions.
